Antwerp and Queen of Waffles

A while ago my boyfriend and I got the idea to make a city trip when we had a day off and we decided to visit Antwerp, Belgium. It doesn't take a very long time to get there by train in our case, so we had all day long to explore the city. We strolled along the big market, looked through windows panes with fountains of chocolate behind it and visited the Rubenshuis (the house where famous Belgian painter Rubens once lived). Antwerp is a very cozy city, especially during winter days. The buildings look like doll houses with their cozy rectangular shaped windows and elegant facades. Everywhere you go the streets are decorated with twinkling lights and there are many old historic cafes where you can drink special beers and warm up. At these moments I always imagine I am back in time a hundred years and visualize the citizens that lived there back then.

Just when we had walked for several hours and were longing for a break, we stumbled upon an interesting small coffee bar named Queen of Waffles. Queen of Waffles is really the place to be when you are in need for some sweets and an energy boost. They have delicious coffee, hot chocolate and all kinds of authentic Belgian waffles. We could also choose our favourite topping; strawberries, chocolate, honey, vanilla ice cream.. The place has a modern and hip design but does fit the atmosphere of the city at the same time. We enjoyed our relaxing time by relishing our food and drinks and looking at people walking by. After that we were good to go and discover new places in the city and we were also completely stuffed for the rest of the day.

We really had a great day visiting Antwerp and I recommend it to everyone who wants to have a winter holiday feeling for just one day.

Love,
Ivanna
